Jacquelyn began her reenactment journey as an English country dancer. But who can resist dressing up for a ball? And so she had to have the clothes. . . Why would any woman in her right mind spend 200 hours building an outfit and then wear it only once a year? So she started traveling to reenactments with friends who had a shop. (This is getting farther and farther off the trail, isn't it?) After a very short time she became self-conscious about the clear plastic tote that kept her clothing dry, as it's not permissible to have it in plain view during business hours.

The solution? An eighteenth century one, to be sure. A giant cloth bag? Ummm . . . no. A large basket? Not watertight for the nights when the tent has streams of water passing through. A trunk it must be. And after a few sad experiences with transporting the wide brimmed hats, band boxes.

Jacquelyn now spends her time studying extant trunks and attempting to improve her trunk building, making bandboxes to attract interest, and hand tailoring. Her dream is to build trunks authentically enough that they could be used in a museum.
