James Fitt - Leather Work
40 years ago while pursuing my career as a professional musician and music teacher, I was fortunate to inherit the equipment for a small leather shop. I began to study traditional leather crafting techniques. As my craft improved, I became a juried member of the Bucks County Guild of Craftsmen and the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen. Over the past forty years, I have continued to research and study leather artisans to help develop and refine my skills. I work with a variety of leathers which include cowhide, horse hide, deer skin, bison, kangaroo, kidskin, and sheep shearling. Each piece is produced by hand using traditional methods - processes include designing, cutting, stamping, tooling, dying, painting, finishing and stitching. My work is available at shows around the Philadelphia area as well as Etsy.com. I have also enjoyed teaching leather crafting privately, in schools and for Tandy leather Co. I am currently located in Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania
