Jeanne Proctor - Traditional American Quilts - Bedminster Traditional Artisan Show

Jeanne Proctor  - Quilter

Jeanne thinks of quilts as paintings made of fabric.

The technique of piecing together layers of fabric to produce bedding, clothing, and even armor can be traced back centuries. Jeanne is inspired by early quilt makers who produced functional pieces that were truly beautiful, and often made with scarce or repurposed textiles.
Jeanne began making quilts over 40 years ago. Her quilts are based on traditional quilt block patterns. Some designs are very detailed, others are perhaps more utilitarian. Her quilts are machine pieced and free motion quilted using 100% new cotton fabrics.
Jeanne encourages her quilts to be used. Quilts can not only be used on beds they can also be used as decorative and functional pieces on tables, chairs, couches, railings, or as wall pieces. Jeanne’s hope is that her work is enjoyed by others and that this early American art form is carried forward for future generations.
