Scott Smith

Cabinetmaker

Scott is a third generation cabinetmaker who spent most of his working life in the construction industry. After retiring, he set up a woodworking shop and began making tables, hanging cabinets, benches, and other furniture pieces in styles and forms that were popular in the 18th and 19th centuries. Some are folk in style while those made of cherry, walnut, or tiger maple are more formal. He is also a blacksmith and he forges custom, hand-wrought hinges used on his hanging cabinets. He has been listed in Early American Life Magazine's Directory of Traditional American Crafts since 2020.
